mark ll and cressida diff size help

Postby RBPOWA » Tue Sep 08, 2009 9:28 pm

Was out at the wreckers today trying to find a replacement diff and we just couldnt match one up we are thinking its some odd ball one or something.
Can anyone verify that the diff housing in my mx83 cressida would be physically larger but the same as markll's cresta's and cressida's of the same era?
Only other difference is it uses a six bolt axles where as the gx81 lsd's all have four bolt type flanges. I was hoping i'd be able to change flanges over but the diff's arnt the same size so i'd be skeptical about whether they'd fit or not, thing is i dont want buy one and find its wrong as they wont let me return it..

Any idea's? could somebody shed some light on this please

Just read the trans/diff code on the build plate to check if it's the same diff.
May find differences in the driveshaft flanges.

You will find theres a difference between the M powered cars and the G series ones (unless its 1ggte)

The Mx83s, JZX81s and GX81s with 1ggte have G series diff which is an 8" crownwheel

The Gx81's with 1gfe's which you're more than likely to find will have F series diffs

This is IRS I'm talking about.

hmmm i'd say your pretty on to it haha it's got a 7m-ge okay so the one im after would be the g series. so maybe all of the ones i viewed happened to have F series diffs in them which would be my luck.
I guess i'l have a hard time finding a lsd one then unless altezza bits or something similar went in there. cheers for the help
