which calipers to use AE92

Postby callum » Sat Sep 19, 2009 2:34 pm

i want to upgrade my front brakes on my ae92 i know the best option would be just to put in decent pads and new fluid but i kinda want something a bit more showy.
ive been searching the forum and there seems to be quite a few options but none that seem the obvious choice. i was leading toward hilux calipers untill i read they were to heavy, but other calipers i have investigated seem to be around 5kg as well. anyway if any one can suggest a 4 pot caliper that is reasonably priced and noticably lighter than the hilux ones that would be awesome. im not really prepared to pay more than $250 for them but i am a machinist so can make any brackets etc that i will need.

cheers

gto, rx7 or subaru, 300zx/gtst skylemon.

I have hilux ones which are heavy, and also a pain to get good quality top end pads for.
I just paid $700 for all 4 calipers, discs and a master cylinder from an evo 6 which I think works out reasonably cheap (sure this is out of you current budget level but is a lot of brakes for the $)

It'd also pay to think about what wheels you wish to run and how much 'x' factor clearance you may need to have.

I would look at ST205 GT Four 4 pot alloy calipers if you can get/find them. Check out this conversion. Aw11 should be very similar to AE92
