Brakes locking on, turbo laurel

got the brakes locking on on my laurel, have to use then 3 or 4 times before they start, they release when i pull out the hose which connects to inlet,

is the one way valve $&#$%?

to release the brakes deoes the inlet have to vacumn? is the boost $&#$% with it?

The valve is either $&#$%(unlikely), or much more likely, its backwards.
The direction of flow should be TOWARDS the inlet manifold, its sucking air OUT of the booster.
If you apply boost pressure to the brake booster, it will push the diaphragm the wrong way, making it almost impossible to press the brake pedal down.

the valve is the right way, this is the 2nd valve we have tried, if you hold the valve the right way round u can only suck thru it and not blow thru both sides. if u pull the valve off and block the engine side with the booster work fine?

We had this problem on my mates ute. When the brakes locked on we released the pressure out of the line and gave the booster/master-c a few taps and it seemed to work although after that it just so happened that the master-c (seals I think) was stuffed and we replaced the whole lot and it hasn't had a problem since.

If you leave the booster hose off and drive around do the brakes work?

yup, by grabbing the steering wheel and with both feet stand on them like your life depends on it!!

most small pre 70s cars didnt use them, or valiants
