C56 gearbox

Postby sark.inc » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:11 pm

Can anyone recommend a good place to get one rebuilt, i would like to do it my self, but can't seem to find a good manual with specs for doing one.

Or does anyone know of any good books for these gearboxs?

Also does anyone know the ratios on the C56 for the 4afe as opposed to the 4age?

I would suggest Gertech but they are in Palmy. He built my custom C52/C56 gearbox and did a really good job.

Palmy is only a 2hour drive away so its not the end of the world as most people think

The crowd in Lower hutt have an exchange deal through trademe, think its about $750 and you have to give them your old box 8O

Bit pricey imo as you can get 2nd hand ones with factory LSD's for less than $300, a basic one can be had for less than $100 if you look long and hard enough

Ive used geartech twice now and have found them to be good. Have just had c56 internals swapped into my c52.

Good luck, pretty sure you will need some decent tools for that job :)

If thats for a recon'd box thats a pretty good deal really, I daresay the syncros and bearings would run that nearly by themselves.
