Differences between K&N 69-8600 and 69-8751?

Postby furryfren » Thu Oct 22, 2009 10:07 pm

Hey all,

I have had bad experiences buying stuff off ebay as the USA corollas aren't JDMs and products for those cars won't necessarily fit NZ corollas.

Had a bad experience with a Megan racing strut bar that was made for the 2004 corolla. It was only after I bought it that I realized the USA models have the brake fluid chamber near the air filter on the right side but we have ours on the left, so it got in the way of the strut bar.

So now I'm about to purchase one of these:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... =69-8600TP

I've coughed up the money for it, only to realize that there is this which is apparently for Non-US models:

The seller seems absolutely sure that the 8600TP will fit my 2004 Corolla ZZE122. It was an extremely good deal for USD$200 shipped.

Any ideas?

Well a K&N drop in would cost NZD$200 anyway.

Or even look at the simota replacement filters, Apparently they stand up to heat etc better than k&N's (according to their own packaging)

For comparison, I got a simota which is cleanable and oil able just like a k&n one and it was about $50, the K&n equivalent was about $160
