My friend Mike has a 2006 Corolla and has failed a warrent for "excessive movement, drivers seat back".
Car was a previous hire car, but the service record has been provided to Mike and there is no indication of an accident at any time of the vehicle.
I've removed the seat from the car and inspected the pivot mechanisms and all the hydraulic pressed pins and they are intact, but some have a slight amount of play in them 0.5 - 1mm.
When the seat is moved laterally side to side, the seat moves due to the pivot points on the seat mechanism being loose.
Mike's question is this: Is this a warrentable issue or something to be concerned about?
It doesn't bother him as he feels no lateral movement when driving.
In my mind, its not a concern in a crash because the hydraulic pins are all intact, but just have a slight amount of play in them.
Cheers for any information or advice in advance.
Dave
