Turbo's!

Postby bbq1988 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:40 pm

Hey guys, This is the story,
I Have a RB30DET (RB30E block, RB25DE Head with RB25DET valve springs)

It will be running a Link G4, F/F Plenum, supporting fuel system ect

I Am aiming for 375RWKW (500rwhp)

What size of turbo should i be looking at? i would like reasonable response and not a huge amount of lag.

I Was thinking around the GT3540 or GT3582 size turbo's

Cheers

twin scroll is probably where you should be looking if you are planning on reducing lag. Plus on a 6 cylinder it's fairly simple to make a manifold to suit.
i'd say you goal is probably about the limit of a 3582 on pump gas.

with it being 3 liter you shouldn't be worried about lag, (unless its crazy big turbo)
even off boost driving will be super torqueee , a mates rb30det feels so strong off boost then when full boost comes, its wheel spin time in all gears,
he pretty much has to roll start in second or he just never gets traction,
and thats with a sub-par tune and plastic turbo.

best turbo for rb30 would have to be the greddy/hks T04Z, hands down, kai if your looking for the limit.

Greddy don't do a T04Z and there is no Kai version of a T04Z, but yeah GT3582R would be perfect for it.

Fwiw, GT3540R and GT3582R are exactly the same thing :)

that thing aint nowhere near a GTxxxxR anything, its a scummy old Holset 3LD, they were obsolete back in 2003...`

RB30... `500hp, GT3582R would be ok, but the T04Z is my pick with a .84 A/r Twin Scroll.

Thats quite interesting, what makes you choose the T04Z over a GT3582R?

^ Yep what he said, surely you'd know me well enough to know that by now Steve? And you seem to underestimate how many people listen and refer to things you have said and posted even nearly a decade ago - I still see numbers, stories etc of yours bouncing around from early 2000s.
