2ZZ-GE Lift Bolt issue

Postby snwtoy » Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:42 pm

Did a search on this and couldn't find anything here.

Is anyone else aware of the issue? Appears to affect 2000-2002 2ZZ-GE engines:

Our corolla has done 70,000 kms so I will be checking and replacing these asap.

Have just ordered from toyota for the pricely sum of $5 +gst for the two bolts.

Hopefully they're not broken, and spening half an hour replacing them will save us a 6.5 hour labour bill if they are not already broken :o

Here is the replacement procedure for replacing if broken:

I found heaps on the net about it when I was looking at going 2ZZGTE instead of the 7AGTE.

there are a few good USA sites about it,
also known as lift pins IIRC.

There was an upgraded part available to fix it??

I'll see if I kept the web pages somewhere?

That would be good Matt. I ordered the part from the PDF above. At least if it's the old part it'll be better than nothing.

Talk to Lynn Rogers - he built all the 2zzge motors for the Toyota Race series
I'm sure he will point you in the right direction.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Cheers, I can probably do it myself if I don't have to take the drive belt off (always nervous about doing that)? Can you confirm you can get to them without doing this?
