Improving a ACIS mani (starlet)

Postby DexGT » Fri Nov 13, 2009 7:27 pm

I have recently cut open a ACIS inlet mani and I'm looking to improve it for my turbo race car.
I have bored the throttle hole out to suit the 55mm throttle I have and I'm planing to open up the inlet holes to match the gasket (2nd photo) and clean up/smooth the radius on the runner inlet holes, and remove the lumps(bosses for bolts- I'll loctite the bolts to seal them) in between the holes.
You can see a step under the big port butterfly's(3rd photo) and I was thinking of blending it in better . You can see on the runners that right where the step is the casting steps down (last photo), so I'm thinking that I may have to weld this area up to keep the strength .

Any other suggestions / ideas would be appreciated 8)

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.
