diff noise

hey ive brought a second hand silvertop and gearbox, when i spin the diff by hand i can hear clunking noises and its fells kind of lumpy to turn. does this mean the diff is stuffed?

Possibly, put some oil in and see how it feels. Clunking isnt a good sign though :?
