Gizzmo MS-IBC any good?

Postby Crampy » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:04 pm

I've heard bad thing about the original Gizzmo IBC, but this model seems to be good.

It has closed loop boost control, which in my eyes is a very good thing (a lot of EBCs dont have this function)

Plus it has the good ol scramble mode, so you can bump up the boost for a set amount of time.

And another big selling point for me is it doesn't stand out like dogs balls and I can also use it as a boost gauge.

Anyone using one of these? Are they all they're cracked up to be?

I have one on my 5SGTE controlling a TIAL wastegate, very progressive for controlling the boost.

How hard and time consuming was the setup process?

I have one but have not used it as I was using an older HKS one,
but am really looking at runnning it if I cant get my other systems good enough.

So do they have a setting for actual boost level?
The old ones had gain and duty cycle (which set the boost.)
Seeing as this one has closed loop boost control, I'm assuming I can set a boost amount in psi without needing to drive the car. Is that a safe assumption?

EDIT:
Well, I've downloaded the instruction manual and no, it doesn't set boost level. It's still done with duty cycle, but once saved as a memory, it will give a read out of the boost pressure when each memory is selected.

its just a matter of going for a drive to set the various pressures you want.
