Was reinstalling turbo etc today, got oil/water running through it all good, so fired it up to take for a test drive, and noticed an oil leak.
Its coming from the oil feed/return flange on the turbo.
Question, is there an shortcut way to tighten up the bolts with it in place, or am I gonna have to take it all apart again to get to it?

stupid mistake

I believe you can get to one of the bolts from underneath the car, possibly could get the back one if you have a universal flexi joint or 2. I managed to get my oil feed off the CT20b today using a socket and extension (not a ring spanner), so it should be possible with a flexi.

You can get it in place, you just need a decent length extension and a U/J. Had the same issue in my car when I got it back together, pretty sure I just had my 6" 3/8 drive extension.

Ok this reminds me just how much I hate working on damn MR2's.

Had to remove the turbo etc again to get to the nut, go to tighten it up a bit more and snap the stud. Take it back to the turbo place to swap broke stud for good one. 5 minute fix. get back to it only to notice the flange isn't quite level, file the offending bit back carefully, but obviously not enough, cos its $&#$% still leaking.

any ideas or am I just gonna have to get a new oil feed/return pipe?

Take the pipe off, get a flat sheet of glass, preferably at least 5mm thick, and some wet and dry sandpaper in varying grades from 320-1200. Wet the sandpaper and place it on the glass, then move the oil feed flange surface in figure 8's over the (wet) sandpaper until it is flat (preferably checked with engineers blue) and finish with the finer grades of wet & dry paper. Then clean very thoroughly and fit.

If it still leaks you could try something like Loctite 510 Gasket Eliminator Flange Sealant.

sw20 one? or are they pretty generic? might be the best option for me, cos when I get pissed off with the car, anything I try to fix, tends to get majorly $&#$% up

remove the steel gasket and order one of those paper like gaskets from alltech? Should eliminate the leaks would it not...?
