Exhaust touching underbody, WOF issue?

Postby kim0663 » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:32 pm

I welded up my exhaust off the car as I did it at home, with car on axle stands.

It's the oem soarer exhaust with like 4 mufflers at the back, 2 on each side.

Well... As to be expected the pipe was welded on a slightly wrong angle and mufflers are not level/parallel and one of the mufflers touch the underbody of the car.

Is this a wof issue? Need i grind it off and weld it again or is it not a wof issue?

I wouldn't bother fixing it cause of WOF issues , I'd fix it cause of the annoying noise it will make when you are driving 8O :(

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Yeah does it hit when you drive? Its not such a major I wouldn't think... although some heat shielding or wrap may not be a bad idea to be safe as it could get quite hot and pending what it was touching it could create a pocket of extreme heat.

Don't know nuttin bout wof, but the strain it's putting on the pipes, welds, bolts & gaskets with every shake is likely to cause something to fail pretty soon.
