And No sir, it wasn't the CV.
Im almost too embarrassed to tell you guys.
I took it to my mechanic and he was of the opinion that it would be a wheel bearing. Once he drove it he agreed that it was definitely left rear but was more than just a worn bearing. He too put it on the hoist and could not find anything wrong. Out of curiosity he removed the left wheel to see a shiney patch on the rear strut. He had a look on the wheel and there was a lead wheel weight which had moved and was whacking on the strut when going around tight corners.
I shit you not!!!! The rays volk wheels i have on the car have adhesive weights but for some reason there was also some crimp on lead weights? The missis hit a pothole at some roadworks when going into Christchurch which must have dislodged the weight. I swear that it sounded a lot worse than a lead weight hitting the strut, my mechanic was gobsmacked, when he drove the car he said you could feel the back end jumping up and down.
well ya live and learn, Thanks to everyone for the help.
