Old school ignitors

Postby fangsport » Sun Apr 04, 2010 2:35 pm

does anyone know of any alternative ignitors that can be used with old school electronic distributors EG: 4K-U, 2TGEU, 3TEU etc.

i have enough for my own use, but have enquiry for some of my surplus, and would also like to know what i can use when my own ones lose their punch.

any ideas??

what about converting the generic shaped toyota ones off the likes of 4age and 3sge motors. I just wired one up to make a painful electric fence unit. as long as you have a positive pulse from the pickup they can be made to work.

It got suggested to me a while ago when i was trying to suss an external igniter to run a honda external igniter.I wasn't too keen on that as i had 2 here to work out how to wire, as it is one igniter is dead.

Ergh don't use honda ones.
Or ford/mazda ones.

Toyota ones are awesome apparently, just not very pretty

Said Bosch module's above are great little units, they automatically set dwell angle, cheap and reliable.

Otherwise toyota ignitors are piss easy to wire and can help out if anyone wants it.
