1jz and 2jz flywheels

Postby jeda teach » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:22 am

I have a 2jz-ge engine that is currently bolted to an auto. Wanting to convert to manual with a W series box.
I have been told that the 1jz and 2jz flywheels are different, and cannot be interchanged.
If they are, how are they different?

Did the mk4 supra with the 2jz-ge engine come out factory with the W box or the R154 box?

Is the clutch set up a pull or push type?

Thanks in advance.

Can't answer between the 1JZ or the 2JZ, however the JZA80 came with either a W58, or V160/V161 Getrag box. Not sure about the naming conventions of the auto's as I don't do auto's.

1jz and 2jz can take the same flywheels.
They are possibly different from factory as there are 3 different gearbox and clutch options - but they bolt to the engine the same.

1jz-gte had an r154 with a pull clutch setup. (soarer, chaser, mk3 supra)
2jz-ge had a w58 with a push clutch setup (mk4 supra)
2jz-gte had a v161 - not 100% on clutch setup, assume push. (mk4 supra)

niteb on here is the man for manual jz gear
