3SGE Cold Idling Issue

Postby xno37 » Fri Sep 10, 2010 5:46 pm

So as of yesterday, I’ve been having a problem where when cold, the car idles very high and changing every second or so between 2200-2500rpm. This only happens until the engine is completely warm, where idle drops to normal 650-700. That’s the only symptom happening.

Engine is gen 3 3sge. I assume a sensor is gone, as everything is still where it should be. What normally/can create this problem?

(EDIT: Took the car to Toyota, problem was idle speed was too high with the ECU trying to lower it. A/C idle up was always on)

or sticky idle control valve.
or air lock in the idle control valve heater circuit (where the engine coolant goes through).
