c160 6spd into ae92 - any issues?

Postby gmacrae » Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:55 am

Hi guys. I just got a 6spd gearbox out of a carib for my ae92 (silvertop). The box isnt here yet. It already has a silvertop c52/56 and 20v clutch

They look like pretty much the same gearcase as the c52 etc, so i imagine all my current mounts will bolt up fine?

Clutch splines are the same right?

the ae92 speedo cable will bolt in fine?

Shift cables will fit no prob?

I've heard that the ae92 shifter doesn't have enough left-right movement to allow selecting reverse on the 6spd... can anyone confirm this? Will i just need to grind out some of the shifter surround to allow enough movement or lengthen the ?finger? that comes off the stick to shorten the L/R throw?

Cheers lads

The left mount (under the battery), will need its plate modified or fabricated to fit (you will need to use AE92 mount with modified plate).

The shifter is easily modified to accommodate for left/right movement (you will need to file the shifter post to allow for it to move).

Speedo should be ok (original fits in fine), will need to swap reverse switch due to different plug.

Axles should also fit in fine.
