Caldina ST215 cv boots

Postby kiwinig » Sun Nov 07, 2010 10:57 am

I had a friend go into repco in Richmond to get me some front cv boots for my 98 Caldina GTT and they told him that I needed to measure the ones on my car first. Sounds like a load of crap to me. Surely they should have them sitting on the shelf. Has anyone bought cv boots for their Caldina and do they have a part number?

Thanks for that mate but I was hoping that someone here had replaced their cv boots and would have an actual part number that I could give to repco. I would have thought that with the amount of Caldina's on NZ roads that surely repco would have had a part listing for them.

You could always try Toyota

We even have someone on the board that can do good deals on Toyota parts. Check the sponsors section.

Richmond in Nelson? Like all Repcos, one or two long termers who know thier stuff, and the rest can't tell a spark plug from an oil filter....

Yeah Mr Revhead, I used to live in Richmond, but now live in Brisbane. There's no chance of walking into a repco or supercheap over here and asking for parts for a Caldina. They don't even know what they are. I thought it would be much easier to source the parts from NZ the land of the jap import.

So you've waited 4 days for a reply, however you won't take 2 mins underneath the car to measure it? I don't mean to be rude, but asking here won't be much help if there are several different sizes available, what say whoever you ask has a different size to yours?

Just had mine replaced two weeks back.

Toyota quoted me $360 for the boot installed (naturally I told them where they could stick it). Got a local mechanic to source the part from Toyota and install it himself; which cost me $120.

IMO: ring your local Toyota parts department. It's not like you're going to save heaps by going to Repco, and I've found the pricing from dealerships to be quite competitive (esp when you rock up in the weekend and ask nicely for a Trade discount).

Yeah, but a lot of the Aussie Toyota dealers will see it's a grey import (assuming the GTT was never sold there) and put it in the too hard/don't want to know basket.

Go here viewtopic.php?t=66290 and email Mark, pretty sure he won't mind sending parts over the ditch.

Just measure yours man. It'll take you like 5 mins and you'll know exactly what you need. If there are multiple different types for the same car then there's every chance that you'll get a wrong one regardless of where you get it from - no one can guarantee that what is on the car is what it came with from the factory.

It's all good. I need some front shocks so I've ordered some from Driven Performance as well as some cv boots.

It's no use going to any parts store here in oz and saying it's a Caldina. They all look at you blankly and say to hard as it's an import. Maybe I should have bought a Stagea instead. At least they know what a Skyline is. Then again Stagea's are damn ugly.
