4agze - No boost?

Postby -Dan-Knee- » Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:42 am

Hey all,

I own a ae92 Trueno GTZ with a oversize 12psi pulley kit on it.

As of lately, some days it wont make boost... I will put my foot down and it will go to 0psi on boost gauge, supercharger light will come on on dash and car will gain speed (like a hi comp 4age - painfully slow) but no boost?

The main thing that annoys me is I will pull over and turn car off, then back on and I will have boost again (sometimes). Becoming less and less that I will actually get boost back.

I have done plugs lately, but it was doing it before that. Thought I would mention just incase.

Can anyone help me out or has anyone experienced this before? Where and what should I be looking out for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Danny

Supercharger electromagnetic clutch might not be engaging. Light will still operate whether it is or actually making boosts.

Sounds like the sc clutch isn't engaging, which would be electrical. Not sure if its operated VIA a relay that might be knackered
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

could be the relay, which is behind the carpet on the back wall of the boot?

As above, could be supercharger clutch but there are other things as well.

Do you get an engine check light on at all? More common on ae101, but my ae101 GTZ would jump into limp mode every now and again due to melting caps in the ECU.

Other thing I can think of is the ABV mod, but I dont think that would give those symtoms, it would just limit it to factory boost.

Engine check light doesn't come on at all, but after work I am going to do the engine diagnostic check and see if it throws out any codes.

My car has had the ABV mod done and has always boosted fine to 12psi before this.

Definitely have to look into this as I removed my boot linings at the end of winter to air the car out on a sunny day and never put it back in, but I still had boost for quite some time after I done this.

Searched the whole of my boot and no sign of the relay.
Is there any other main area I should look before I start hunting over the whole car.

I carried out the engine diagnostic check and it brought up error code #41 - throttle position sensor.
I found the throttle position sensor and it is loose and missing the small metal wire clip that holds it in place. I disconnected the battery and retried it and now it has no codes (flashing).

Would this be causing the boost problems? After talking to a mate he said the car may go into safe mode as it has no idea where the throttle is therefore giving me no boost?

Any new help would be appreciated.

Cheers

yes, an MR2 may be in the boot,

but the AE92 and AE101 have them under the bonnet.

The boot is a funny place for a SC relay to be on an ae92 lol

Cheers "evil si"

Im going to get the clip for my TPS and see how that goes for a while, if it happens again then I'll try the relay.

Does anyone know if the TPS would likely cause the no boost issue due to a possible Safe Mode?

I want to turbo a car in the near furture but want it to have 4 doors.
But yes Andrew (Distrb) happily reminds me everytime Im at his that turbo will sort this issue out for me haha.
