Ignitor for 6cyl wasted spark setup?

Postby cat007 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:50 am

Hey all
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a decent ignitor for my 1G running 3 7M wasted spark coils?

Currently using some sort of Mitsi V6 jobbie and wondering if upgrading it will give me a better spark?

Cheers

I run a link 3 channel ignitor which has not given me any trouble.. Unsure if it would really give you any gain over a factory setup though..

Wonder if something like this would be ok - but the triple channel one:

Actually - flag that - Maybe I should just get one of these as they're designed to run with my ECU:

V6 mitsi ones are all good. if you want better spark, you'd be better off changing the coil packs.

series 4/5 rx7 coil packs pack a helluva whallop if you need more oomph

Haha that's a bit out of my price range. Especially as I'd need coils to go with it!

ignitor is pretty much a relay. (some have built in dwell control though) just grounds the coils. so your not going to gain anything changing them, unless current is junk. how much dwell are you running?

Can't go wrong using Mitsi coils with mitsi igniter. Mitsi igniters have the dwell control built into them.
Plenty at pick a part.

Really? Not from what I've been told - that's why I went with this one. The 7M ignitor, which I was originally going to use, has dwell control built in, hence why I went for the Mitsi ignitor
