supercharged 5k.. thoughts?

Postby YeMs » Tue Feb 08, 2011 8:40 pm

iv been thinking... mounting an sc14 on top of a 5k, hopefully under the bonnet of my ke25, building runners down into the ports, and adapting a side draught to the charger..

any one done it, or seen it done? kind of creating a discussion more than asking for help. will start googling next

an SC14 might be a bit too big for a 5K. It will probably create too much drag on the engine and not pump air effectively.

An SC12 might be a better choice.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Went alright, was pretty rugged though. I have better ideas if I were to do it again though.

Total rubbish.

The Toyota superchargers tend to be a little fussy about running fuel through them, if you want it carby look at a blow through setup. Then you can run an intercooler, for best results though you really want to run injected.

nah i dont wanna go as far as putting an IC on etc. im not really after huge performance gains. just want something to go with the noise. and blow through is a real hastle, sealing the carb etc. if i did that id just inject it.

When I first put a 4agze MAP motor in my old AE86 it ran with no intercool temporarily until the FMIC was fitted. It was only 10psi but without the intercooler it barely made any power, the ecu must have pulled all of the timing due to the intake heat. There was a temporary crossover pipe which got REAL hot.

Obviously you won't have this issue with a carb, but the toyota SC12's are not exactly efficient, they produce a lot of heat, so really should have an intercooler.

Maybe a better design supercharger like an Eaton? 8)
