Changing the colour of seats

Ive got a set of Red recaros. The red is abit much for me and would prefer them to be black. Instead of getting them reupholstered could i dye them or spray them with black fabric paint?

This is probably a stupid question but i want to weigh up my options.

the woman got some orange pvc seats dyed green. worked. still green after a couple years.
