hahahahah i had a good laugh - a MKIII and economy dont go together well

but seriously - if you can get a 1G-GE or 7M-GE they do alright fuel wise but the 1G-GE really struggles with the weights of the car

i bet a 1G-FE is even worse

but i hear they also made a 1G-E version too - 85 magnificent horses! they were reasonalbly economical moreso than the 1G-GE but they were exceptionally slow

if you can - find one with a 7M-GE and make sure the headgasket has been done properly and use that - they get decent economy depending how you drive them and you wont want to harm yourself cause of the low performance of the 1G-E\GE ;)

that said mine with a 1JZ-GTE will do 10-12km a litre if you drive it carefully with the odd small burst of boost

Nah bo. 1ge is a sack of poo, less power and more fuel consumed than the 1gge. Also has a lot less power than the gte and consumes more petrol. Crazy, right.

I havn't noticed a big difference in economy between the ge and a gte unless you're heavily using the accelerator. Best you can hope for is between 10-12L per 100km with any of those motors, cruising of course.

edit: also, if you get a 86 narrow body, they are the lightest, mine weighed in at 1445kg full trim.

I got 35MPG out of my old 7m-GE manual supra (after I did the head gasket LOL), was thinking 1JZ-GE would be better though as it is new technology...JZ heads are mean

nah nah not at all

anyhow if you do purchase a vvti 1jzgte, make sure it comes with the afm, and the engine has come out of a jzx100 or jzz30 ( super late model soarer ) as all vvti 1jzgtes are fly by wire with throttle linkage

there are also some pin outs on the e-nets, and a greater majority of them are incorrect, but a super clued up person like spence and or mike-e on these boards can nut it out, chances are you will be rolling ( want to at least ) with a link

also my tip of the century is
dont roll with the auto and factory ecu........you will never get it to work 100%

i read a very goot article in the latest NZV8 mag today about fuel economy vs performance vs fuel cost vd depreciation or in your case vs enging swap.

i HIGHLY suggest you read it , gave me a whole new perspective on economy etc

vvti 1JZ-gte is my 1st option

Another option i was thinking (but spencer doesnt like LOL) Is 1jz-gez

so standard 1jz-ge (mid 90s one) with a sc16 supercharger, then I can switch is of and on, so i have power when i want it and economy when i need it!!!

I have always wanted this since watching mad max LOL

and thoughts on that?
