Extremely stiff clutch pedal

Postby -Justin- » Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:49 pm

Not a Toyota related question but the guys on here know their stuff. Anyway about a year ago i converted my r32 from auto to manual at the time a heavy duty rb25det clutch was available so i put that in. I am pretty dam certain i greased everything and installed everything properly(did a few manual conversions previously). After bleeding the clutch i found that it was very very hard to push in i mean the fly wall flexes a little bit, i used all genuine r32 20det parts. I have asked around and even a mate said that even a 25det clutch should not be that heavy. Anyway long story short i really don't want to have to pull my gearbox out just to change a clutch that isnt slipping with a standard 20det one. i have had a look on the net and their are such things as "clutch boosters" stageas run them factory. Had a look on trademe could not find anything, so my question is does anyone have any suggestions on how i could go about solving my problem without having to pull the whole gearbox out again?

cheers

If everything is lubricated properly in the gearbox, check to make sure your clutch pedal joints and master/slave cylinders aren't seized.
If not then go for a bigger master cylinder

being more specific about the nature of the new clutch might help people tell you what the pedal might feel like from their experiences etc.

A mate of mine put R34 GTT motor and box in his R32 and nothing was changed after the heavy duty clutch was fitted, so I think it sounds like something inside the bell housing is wrong
