aside from the EXTREEEEM benifets id say you would get EXTREEME problems in the future as that stuff eats away at fuel lines that arent designed to run it = Awesome fuel leaks in really bad spots - the factory lines arent designed to deal with it from what ive read

plus your km\L will drop a good amount - dont know if that bothers you or not

Gull Force 10 seems to be the best bet as thats 10% ethanol and wont eat your fuel lines - you get slightly higer octane and the drop in KM\L isint so noticable

The answer in most cases is no.

To run E85 you need to have a fuel system that will pump up to twice the amount of fuel as a standard setup. The average rule is that you need to supply 1.5x the amount of fuel - so you need a larger fuel pump, injectors and an after market ECU to make it work.

There is no need to run E85 unless you have a race engine with 12:1 or more compression and want to get the most out of an engine. Otherwise the cost outweighs the benefits.

What if I have the "turbo boost" feature, surely that could benefit from E85?

There's a handful of guys in the states with 3S-GTE's running E85 with some success. They all have huge turbo boost too.

I believe that came down to the fact the oil he was supplied by BNT wasnt rated for ethanol even tho they said it was so the oil was degrading very quickly to the point where it wasnt providing any lubrication any more and that was why he was popping motors left right and center

Each month I get aussie magazine High Performance Imports. They always go on bout this stuff and how great it is.

Too bad if you set your car up to run E85 along with ECU tune - kinda limits how far you can take your car and where.

Already been through all that on TS a while ago.


The only standard road car in NZ that can run it is the 2010 onwards Holden Commodore.

Otherwise you need to get your car tuned for it and then you can usually only run that fuel.

E85 and normal petrol are not interchangabe unless that car has ethanol sensors and are tuned for all fuels.
