intake poping sound

so i was driving home and i changed down a gear going around a corner and the car stalled. It did this twice on the way home so when i got home
i opened the bonnet to find a poping noise coming from the intake pipe so i took off the pod filter to find it had a whole lot of holes in the filter?
oh car is a ae92 with a 4age
any ideas?

It's a shit filter thats falling apart and getting sucked into your intake??
