nope, should be able to make a new halfshaft for that price. Although they're c*nts, I'd suggest talking to Gear Cutters (or is it Gear Cutting Services?) in Mt Wellington/Panmure, or AH Gears who are better to deal with but possibly busier/more expensive. You may have to get your shaft annealed for machining first and then hardened and tempered again - talk to Heat Treatments in Mt Roskill

Yeah the $350 is for annealing, machining and hardning again...

Was told it could be around 500 for new ones (each)

Do you have access to/know how to use a lathe? A suitably sized bar of 4340 steel should only be around $80 IIRC, if you can machine to size yourself then it's just the cost of splining and heat treating. I've never had to pay for heat treating so don't know how much that's worth (I'd guess a pair of shafts would be $50-100 to harden and temper), and I used to pay $40-50 per spline from Gear Cutters before they decided to be dicks, I think their normal prices are around $80 per spline.

Do have and know how to use a lathe, but all the time/effort...
And it adds up to over $500.

Call'd ADL today and got put on hold and left messages but go no where, just great guys!

What are the chances of breaking a moded shaft with only a supercharged standard 1uz
