2002 1zzfe oil grade.

Postby etrain » Wed Dec 21, 2011 6:04 pm

Hi Guys, I've scouted around for a clear cut answer but mostly end up where I started.

I recently bought a 2002 fielder 1zzfe fresh import. It didn't come with an owners manual. As far as I can gather 5w -30 is the recommended oil grade to use, but I don't know what grade is in there already.

My question: What is the correct grade for this engine and would it be a major if I add new oil to the old if the existing oil is a different grade?

Hope that makes sense.

( Oil change would be ideal I know but no time at the moment)

Thanks.

5/30 is the correct oil. thats what we use at toyota, castrol magnatec. its not ideal to add different grade oil, but it wont harm it (unless its drastically different and you are working in extreme temperatures). i would just fire some magnatec in and top it up.

Use castrol Magnatec 10w-30, its still a 30 weight oil and the 5W 10W thing isn't really of any relevance unless you get caught in blizzards a lot.
