Rear wheel camber way wrong!

Postby naqs » Wed Jan 25, 2012 1:00 pm

So I had been driving around on bald rear tyres for a while and it's been pretty wet and all. I took a corner a bit too quickly and ended up going sideways into a curb which completely destroyed the rim and bent the suspension arms. Which still confuses me as I wasn't actually going that fast. Also would've gotten myself out of it. But the TRC had other ideas.

Anywho that left me with bent suspension arms and a busted rim. I replaced the suspension arm got a new wheel and tyre and put it all back together and found that the wheel has a bit of positive camber. Not as bad as it was but still more than what is normal. What have I missed? I didn't notice anything else bent.

Help me!

Had an alignment? May or may not be adjustment to get it back right. If there isn't, then I guess you could have bent something else, or the parts you put in weren't perfect perhaps.

You probably bent the shock
I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Never skimp on tyres boys and girls.

Have you tried measuring the distance between the various parts of your suspension and comparing them?

You probably bent more arms than just the one that you replaced.

Doesn't take much to bend both those rear arms, measure the length of them and where it mounts, also check the shock as i wouldn't mind betting it's bent. Doesn't take much of a side on impact to knock them out of line

Take it for a wheel align, tell them what the story is and see if they can spot whats bent. Theres a high chance you have either bent the subframe or chassis on the rear, or if its the front, chassis or shock.
