Tips on removing bolt and straightening steel

As per my post in the Auckland section, I guess i could give this a go myself.
Whats the best way to remove a sheared bolt? Easy-out?
Bolt is stainless which should make things easier being a softer metal, right?

Straightening the steel shouldnt be too hard. A hammer or a bar on the end?

Hey guys.

Should have posted earlier but needing some one to do a pretty simple job for me - had a little boo-boo at work and $&#$% some things up!

Looking at the pic below, it can be seen that there is a bend on the left arm and in the end of this arm there is a sheared M5-6 bolt.

What i need to do is remove the bolt, straighten arm and i guess check for cracks around the welds or even have it rewelded.

Who would be the best to take this to at short notice?

i've never had much joy with easy outs myself, but i guess it depends on why and how the bolt is broken.

having any luck with straightening the bent piece will depend alot on the type of steel it is, in general once its bent its never the same again if you know what i mean - that is, you might get it straight, but it will always be weak there. that may not matter too much depending on the role its performing.

if its removable i'd have thought taking it to an engineer would be your best bet in terms of not messing it up worse

Not quite Stainless is harder, and generally chews drill bits,

If its flush id weld a nut to it amd try and undo

yeah easy outs suck and stainless sucks to drill.

Snap on easy outs work ok but not everyone has access to them and as suggested stainless dulls drill bits.

If the thread is in good nick try and tap it round anticlockwise with centre punch and hammer, once the thread of bolt protrudes then use vicegrips or polys..

All depends on the thread of course.
