Cleaning FRP seat

Postby 1I1 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 2:43 pm

Need to clean the back of a FRP shell seat - it's covered in glue from a previous owner gluing a big sheet of foam to it. Want to be careful not to do any damage

Suggestion was to use Wax and Grease cleaner. And from searching on the web another is to use WD-40.

Anyone had to do this and if so what did you find works best?

A Citrus based spray cleaner should be more than enough, mate. Just be sure to do a test spot somewhere first :)

Depends what the P part of the FRP is.. if its epoxy, and painted in 2K paint then thinners would be fine. If it's polyester resin and lacquer.. something less aggresive would be the go.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Um pass, what ever Recaro used

Might have to attack it with some test spots in the weekend

Fiberglass or GRP(glass reinforced plastic)?
Acetone. sand it if the glue is hard enough or gasoline, mineral spirits/paint thinner, lacquer thinner on a test spot.

That's actually a good queston, possible GRP. Will have to have another look.
