Removing top strip off of ST215 Caldina front bumper

Postby Sick Puppy » Thu Mar 29, 2012 1:35 pm

HI everyone, I have a quick query about the ST215 Caldina front bumper.

It's a two piece unit, looks like the main part that bolts onto the car, and a top part that fits flush to the car underneath the headlights. On white cars it's white, on the darker cars it's a light or dark grey.

Mine has had a fair bunch of shopping dings, and some wanker has reversed into the back of it with a towbar.

I'm selling the car, so I'm going to replace this top strip if I can (assuming I can find one at a wreckers, and that they will sell just this piece of the bumper to me - yeah right).

Now, does this piece just clip on to the bumper and I remove it with trim prying tools, or will I have to remove the whole bumper first to get to screws, clips, whatever is holding it in place?

If it's a case of removing the whole front piece, on another thread I made about replacing the headlights, fellow member rodster very helpfully pointed me to the ToyoDIY site for a diagram and that I have to remove the headlights, indicators, stone guards underneath the car, as well as the two main bolts holding it in place in the front. Is there anything else I should bear in mind, other than disconnecting lights, foglights, etc.?

I'm asking as I want to spend the minimum about of time on this possible - I've two kids and a somewhat under the weather missus, time is at a bit of a premium at the mo! Thanks in advance for your help!

Bumpage - somebody's done this, surely! lol

Taking off as many screws and bolts as I can find, might have broken a few clips too.

Does anyone know if the bumper is a two piece that I can seperate? It looks glued, but I'm really hoping it's not!!!

Bugger - just spoken to an ex-dealer, and apparently the top bit is glued onto the bottom bit with urethane resin or something.

edit - funny, wreckers and Tardme say otherwise...
