3VZFE Camry Starting issue

Postby Garreth27 » Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:08 am

Right, just replaced both Headgaskets on my uncles 94 camry thats running a 3vzfe v6 engine. Got everything back together and done the timing but it wont turn over. When i crank it, it sounds like the timing is off but after rotating the engine manually, all the timing marks line up correctly.

When taking it apart, i did notice that the front cam gear had a twink mark on the 4v whereas the back had it on the 3v (being a 3vzfe) so when i stuck it back on i used the 3v mark on the front cam gear instead of the 4v that was marked. Since i can't get it to run I swapped the gear round to the 4v mark but still no luck.

Is there something I may have missed or perhaps not put back correctly? Its my first time doing a HG and cambelt on a v6

Just check there aren't two sets of timing marks on the cam wheels. Had the same sort of issue when doing the belt on my silvertop a while ago. Noticed the second set of timing marks which lined up together where the camwheels are at their closest point. There was another set for that lined up with the marks on the cam cover and I got a mix between the two the first time.
See ya
