is my clutch on its way out?

I have a gx100 mark II with w55 box.

since I got it, its been pretty hard to engage the clutch smoothly, you have to do it so slow the car almost comes to a stop before it happens.

sometimes I can get the clutch to engage with no gas without stalling (slowly letting the clutch out fully and giving it no gas).

are these signs the clutch is on its way out? possibly still on first clutch and has done 72,000kms

Without abuse you should expect 200+k out of a clutch.

Maybe master/slave cylinder?
or a bleed?

I would check the fluid level and condition first.
Give the boot on the slave cylinder a squeeze and if fluid leaks out it's poked.
Check for any fluid around the master cylinder (between the cylinder and booster etc).

Try and see how far you can let the clutch out if you put it in gear and have the handbrake on and try to drive off (light throttle). If it stalls that's good. If you can let it right out or the revs climb high then your clutch disc is slipping.

sounds like my mr2 when it had air in the system

Barely have a clue what this means. Engage means releasing the pedal, so you're letting it out so slowly between shifts that the car is almost coasting to a stop?

Nothing wrong with being able to do that unless the idle is too high! Though it isn't doing it any good abusing it!

No. Does it chatter, not engage, slip or not dis-engage with a good MC&slave??? Those are time for replacement.

point of friction is pretty high up.

can't really engage it smoothly as i cant really even feel when it bites unless i let it out fast and then it jerks.

ill try a bleed and chk the master and slave this weekend, fluid doesnt look dark has that normal yellow colour similar to new motor oil and level is full

if you have to drop rpm to almost a stall I would think that clutch isnt disengaging when you press the pedal? If I read your symptoms right.

If the pressure plate is worn, normally you can throw it into any gear and drop clutch and it will just slip.slip.slip and eventually find some grip.

You know when a clutch is slipping, hard to mistake.

sounds like it may have been sitting for a while. those cast hydraulics rust and it kills the seals.
Get someone to put their foot on the clutch when you are under the car see how much travel the slave cylinder has.
