Mufflers: Dynomax VT or AdrenalinR?

OK so some may have seen my previous posts about the exhaust I made for my JZX100 Chaser with single turbo 1JZ.

- 1st setup was 3" mandrel bends and an oval 3 chamber rear muffler from Chase. This was way too loud, droney and harsh sounding.
- 2nd was with a 15" AdrenalinR resonator up the front, this sounded better but still very very droney under 3000rpm. Above that it was fine.
- Last night I added in an 18" Chase louvred resonator just before the diff. Now its quite a bit quieter but still far too droney.

So I've come to the conclusion that the Chase rear muffler is just not a good design. So I need to find another option and looking at the following.

Any one had experience with these or have other options?

The Dynomax one is interesting because it claims 'no drone' by using a variable valve. I didn't think this was legal in NZ?

I'd definatelt try an Adrenalin R muffler, we've sold, & fitted heaps of there mufflers/resonators especially on a lot of ported rotaries etc & we've yet to ever have to repack one & have never failed certs on noise either, we've had them custom build a lot of mufflers for odd ball applications & they've definately not only quietened down cars, also usually gain a bit of midrange torque & take away alot of the really harsh exhuast noise. I'm even considering changing over to an adrenalin R muffler when we get pinged for noise at Western Springs(Notice I said when as I know we are really borderline if not too loud already) because I'm pretty sure it'll do the job. We've had one car we've never really been able to start inside without ear protection, it's not really loud just the tone/harshness of it really annoys you & gets to you really quickly, think it was about 94db with the old system, now it's 91db & you can start & rev it inside with ear protection, you can even hear the gear drive on the front of the motor now, yet it still retains the really nice exhuast sound it's always had. My 2c worth I've never been let down by Adrenalin R yet, good Kiwi made product too.

Hey Atmosports, any feedback on part throttle drone with the AdrenalinR mufflers?

Can't say I've really noticed but then it's not like I've ever really taken any car fitted with one for a long drive to notice, but haven't had anyone complain yet about drone. Another thing which may or may not help, but generally takes some of the tinnyness out of the exhaust note but adds some weight is to use thicker wall tubing. The guys at Adrenalin R are good to deal with so might be a good idea to ring them & have a yarn see what they recommend/suggest

Ive had nothing but good success with adrenalin R, but cannot comment on your specific question.
