Celica front hubs

Postby Shrike » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:18 pm

IS there any difference between

ST18* mac hubs and the st20* hubs?

I know the bearing and drive flange are the same number

Just thinking it will be easier to get st20* abs front hubs then st18* front hubs

Cheers

hub or hub carrier assembly?

Hub spigot: st185 = 54.1mm dia, st205 = 55mm dia
Hub carrier assembly: steering rack arm attachment point is different length between st185 and st205

They are different.
I don't know why you think that the drive flange for ST20x and ST18x is the same, as the ST18x is 43502‑20100, and ST20x is 43502‑20170.
The difference is on the wheel locator diameter 54mm on ST18x and 55mm on ST20x.

Also steering knuckle (ST202/3 McPherson strut is the only you can use on ST18x) is slightly different (enough to give you huge toe in, and positive camber). The difference between knuckles is very difficult to measure (as it is in few mm).

Bearings on toyodiy came up as being the same part number

I am changing the drive flange to a rav 4 one anyway and the brakes will be custom so im not to worried about the hub spigot

Steering rack off the ae111 will be getting custom tie rod ends/ lower balljoints anyway with the rca kit

Just wondering if the mounting points are overly different ?

sorry hub carrier assy as in the whole unit

I may have to get some machperson st20* front hubs to compare

I dont want st205 ones as I beleive they are all superstrut?

Or I could just get the abs sensor blanks drilled out on the front hubs I already have :S
