E153 Rebuild

Postby Grrrrrrr! » Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:35 am

Couple of questions..

Is it possible to upgrade the earlier e153 to the dual synchros that the later models came with for sane money?

And anybody got a ball park figure for getting one of these rebuilt with new bearings/seals?
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

I'd like to know as well

The later boxes with "proper" syncro's are narrower and lighter. They are easily recognised by a pressed steel 5th gear cover and I doubt you can use anything in them

Sorry but that's not correct at all.

Lee there's a good post on mr2oc.com about rebuilding an E153, I think it's this one:

I'm pretty sure you can switch to the better syncros, I think it's a matter of replacing the whole selector hub and the syncros but I think the gears are the same. There's prices on a lot of the parts in that thread too, probably can get them from Lithia but shipping might hurt
