Bell should have what it's for stamped on the face which mates up to the *gearbox* if it's a genuine toyota one.

All W Series bellhousings have engine code at 1 o'clock position

^ Maybe he has a C series or other bell housing which can fit S series engines. Knowing what it came off wouldn't help him find out whether it fits an S and if so whether it positions the engine upright or angled.

Never know.

Exactly, I have a bell, and i know what its off, i want to check if it fits an S series engine as if it does then i may purchase a 3sgte

i use to have most kinds of bells years ago, but got rid of them.
i know a 1c bell fit a 3s engine
from memeory i think a y and a g did aswell, not sure on the t or the l series.

basilcy if some one has a block out all i want to do i rock up, see if the bell i got fits, be like 2mins tops.

Is it a coincidence that finding an S engine outside of an engine bay is easy as pie?

ps: I have one too but I'm not in Auckland.

I think i qualify as a true 3s owner..

I've got a broken one in the car, an almost rebuilt one on the stand.. and an emergency spare on the floor. Should keep me going till xmas :)
