3S Stroker

Postby d1 mule » Thu Mar 28, 2013 12:01 pm

I cant seem to find anything on here, tho i'm pretty sure iv seen it before. well only people using 5s bolcks with 3s heads.

I'm considering building a simi hard out 3SGE beams for my ae70 seeing as iv now sold the 4agte.

Am thinking about building a 3S "stroker"

From what I can tell the Toda kit use a 5S crank but im not sure (cant find part numbers for pistons to compare between "standard" stroke and "stroker"

The rods have different part numbers but only if you use their special I beam / bore out to 87mm.

SO my question is: It I use a 5S crank with 3S rods and pistons (bored to 87mm) will it work ok or will the gudgeon be in the wrong place type deal????

Using the TODA kit with the 5S 93mm stroke and a 87mm bore it brings the capacity out to 2211cc.

Obviously I dont want to buy the TODA kit as it costs a squillion.

Also ppl with experience is 250whp achievable with this kind of setup? cams ITBs approx 12.8:1 CR 2.2L etc

In my stroker 3SGTE build, we used a 5S crank, ground the Big ends down to suit the 3S rod from memory 5S rods are 50mm BE and 3S rods are 48mm, re nitrided the crank and then used 2JZGTE pistons (which we skimmed) to desired compression ratio (9:1)

in the future i would use 5S crank, 5S block, forged rods specific for the 5S and some forged pistons to suit (will have a dual vvti altezza head on it)

the combustion chamber of a vvti head is approx 34cc, the 3rd gen head is around 50cc. it may be possible to use a 3rd gen piston, it would result in some very high compression (i'd say close to 14:1) but you would really have to test the valve cut outs to make sure the valves dont touch, you may be able to get around it by limiting vvti advance (or removing it if that's your thing)

stroker kits we are in the middle of getting some billet cranks made up to a 98mm stroke and 86/88mm bore for 5sfe blocks or the beams 3sge blocks will also make forged rods to suit and new forged pistons
and will bw a 2.4 motor with a red line of 8500
cranks will be issotropic finish and all parts come from the states

about 4500 aussie but we are trying to get it cheaper as the crank alone is 2500 each ,with the issotropic finishing.
the rods are a special 1 of and have to get 10sets made same with cranks , same with pistons
