Whats the widest tyre you can/should fit to a 7" rim?

Have a look at this.

http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_01-2009_V2_Tyre_Size_to_Wheel_Size_Compatibility_Guide.pdf

Depends a bit on the profile and diameter.

also have a look at this for what a tyre company recommends

http://www.toyo.co.nz/tyre_detail.php?T_name=Proxes%20T1R

Are you asking form a performance or aesthetic or purely a safety point of view?

205 is the ideal tyre width for a 7" rim. 215 is doable as well but anything up to 225 etc is just yuck.

also you'll note that some tyre companies 'sizes' are slightly different. i.e. a falken 205 and hankook 205 probably won't be the same size. this is due to the different shapes of the mold the tyre is made into etc.

You often used to see 235's jammed on old 7" wide hotwires, and they look balloony as $&#$%. I wouldn't go wider than a 205 personally. 195's look good ;)

Mainly the safty and legal side of things. Side wall will be what ever to match factory roollind diameter. That lvvta sheet gives you a fair bit of buldge dont they?

Rims are 17x7. Factory is a 16/60/225 I think

They would have been 8's factory no? My series 4 RX-7 had 225/50/16's on 8" wide rims, 60 profile would be comical

Its the spare I was looking at for that size. Its a 16x7.5 factory on the aristo isnt that wide realy. Possible a upsized spare to work with the 19"s too
