Wipers only working on full speed

Postby solitaire » Sat Aug 10, 2013 6:56 pm

94' Celsior/LS400.

As mentioned above, most likely the relay or will it be the actual motor itself do you think?

Googled the hell out of this - sorry for the brief post but the title says it all really.

The resistor is burnt out/ or otherwise failed. Only time the motor gets full voltage is on full speed.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Probably not, tucked away under the dash somewhere would be my guess.

looks like its part of the "relay" assembly going by toyodiy.

Um,

have never seen a wiper speed controlled by a resistor.
Not generally a good idea as current draw varies with load so under more load the wiper will get less power and stall on the screen.

Normally they run a 3 brush motor and commutator brush angle is used to control the speed and they full power at all times.

Can be worn out motor, bad relay, faulty switch, wiring etc etc.
Wiper circuits are some of the more complex circuits in some cars.
