Can anyone tell me if a tie rod tool such as the one I've linked has the right sized adaptor to remove the inner tie rod??
The adaptors are the following sizes - • Includes 7 Adaptors • SAE: 1-3/16in 1-1/4in 1-5/16in & 1-7/16in • Metric: 14mm 17mm & 33.6mm

If you have no luck try a plumbers wrench if you have one lying around

There are very few sizes in tie rod ends. The one we have only has 5 different sizes and there have only been the odd few that it wont fit, which are generally odd-ball euro stuff with 8 sized bits on them. And of the 5 we have, generally only 2 get used anyway. I'd think you'll be fairly safe with most kits.

Or as above Stillsons or a decent set of slip jaw pliers do the job. The second option is actually quite handy for bending the locking tabs over when you're limited on space. Which is quite often.
