Ae111 walbro fuel pump problem

Postby KIPH8N » Mon Sep 15, 2014 8:43 pm

So I installed a walbro fuel pump on my ae111 but it seems like it's touching something at the bottom of the tank but it still bolted on so I started turned the ignition on and the efi fuse blew. Currently I'm using a 15amp fuse. Does a walbro pump draw more current than that? The pump was originally out of a ae101 levin. What fuel pumps are other people using on their 4age turbo thanks.

Thanks.

Shouldn't draw more than 15amps - not unless you've got the fuel pressure wound waaaaaay up so the pump is under really heavy load. Theoretically you would need to run a standard 255 (not high flow) at 90-100psi and 12v for it to draw 15amps. That or you have low voltage at the pump causing it to pull more current.

Usually the body of the pump and cradle are earth too so even though its touching the bottom of the tank it wont cause any issues.

Is this the pump that I fixed the dodgy wiring on? If so, maybe there is a short in the connection through the top of the cradle - I didn't actually check that, just tidied up that terrible wiring. Use a multi meter to check. Send me a PM if you need more info.
