83 Corona Carby

Postby RollaGT_87 » Sat Oct 25, 2014 1:44 pm

Hey lads and lasses,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend the easiest way to get a bit more go out of a 3T. I'm thinking carby, but don't even know where to start, or what has to be done to get the most out of it. Do ya just stick a 2L carby on and wow wizzo you have mo power? Or do you spend 8 years tinkering with a set of feeler guages, upgrade the fuel pump, and call a wizard? Basic as rundown if ya have the time to help out a rookie.

I converted my '83 corona to a 3T EFI with friends, it took 6 months and countless problems

for all of that the butt dyno felt a little bit better below 3000rpm, otherwise no change haha

but the chrome intake runners were worth it!

You could look at a hotter cam? I recall mine being pointless over 4500rpm - some more life after that cant be bad?

alright for road and mild club car.
i had a 40/40 on mine for a while, but bit thristy for a daily.
sidedrafts if you can afford them, had DHLA40 , shelved them to collect dust cos i found a set of DHLA45's cheap and they are a massive improvement

you could be a real sicko and track down some angrier pushrods that will deal with more revs too

get the wee sucker singing to 7500rpm, i know mine sounded like a dying cat anywhere between 5500 and 6000rpm haha

i suppose at that point you might as well whack on a 2T-G head and go twincam :D
