Tyre Sizing

Postby Boosted_162 » Tue May 05, 2015 8:04 pm

Hey guys.

Picked up a set of 15" Enkei's super cheap for the Carib as I want to replace the snow tyres. Currently sitting on 195/50/15, but sits at 3250rpm at 100km and I do mostly open road driving.

195/55/15 will give me a 3.4% increase in diameter, 205/50/15 is 1.7%. Changing it this much, will it make a noticeable difference to the gearing?

Cheers :D

I run a 205/50R15 on my track wheels and don't think there is any negative with gearing (normally has 205/40R17's on the car). Its a better match than the 195/50's as they are a bit small for the car (factory would have been 195/55)

Mine was stock 185/60/14 (no S/S) so 195/50/15 is almost exact size but does seem a bit small and not a very nice ride - snow tyres won't help.

I think I will go for the 195/55 to make it more comfy, and maybe the revs at 100k will come down. Unfortunately it is a family car and not really a performance one

Thanks Mark :) (a parts request will be coming soon )
