Sourcing an Oxygen Sensor for Carib BZ-T 4A-GE 20v Blacktop

Postby geebuddy » Sat Jan 09, 2016 1:49 pm

Hi guys, I was hoping to get some insight into getting hold of a new oxygen sensor - car was bogging the other day, and has diagnosed codes 21 and 25. Seems to have subsequently come right for now...

I have spotted Bosch universal for $245 on Trademe, without going 2nd hand is that the best way to go? Can anyone recommend somewhere to source a Denso or Tridon replacement?

Any and all help would be most appreciated! Cheers

I'd recommend going for a genuine Denso one. You can buy them cheaper through Mark (1I1) who is a site sponser here. I got my replacement one through him when I had my Corolla. You can PM him here: ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=7755

The part number for the Blacktop oxygen sensor is 89465-19685. It was around about $220 from memory, but you don't have to shag around swapping over the plugs etc and it's the dead right part for the car.

These are some pics I took when I replaced mine:

Cheers Kiwi-Corolla, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear! I'll give Mark a PM.

Out of curiosity, did the swap clear up the issues you where having?

No worries :). Yep, I had intermittent spluttering issues when accelerating and the new oxygen sensor fixed the problem. The problem goes away when you give it full throttle as the o2 sensor gets ignored, so that's a good way to test it when the issue happens again. Another thing you could do is unplug the oxygen sensor to see if the problem stops. The car will run a bit richer in the meantime, but it's a good way to determine that it's definitely the sensor causing the problem.
