AE101 rear brake upgrade

Postby Lucky13 » Fri Jul 15, 2016 10:09 pm

Hi all

I have an AE101 Trueno and would like to know what are some good upgrade options for the rear discs and calipers. Are there any other vehicles whose stock gear is a good upgrade? If not, recommendations? It currently has upgraded fronts, Wilwood 4 pots and 280mm Brembo discs.

Probably a complete waste of time upgrading the rear brakes in a front heavy front wheel drive, they aren't doing diddly squat when you are braking hard. Just go for a more aggressive pad in the rear if you think you can get a bit more effect from the rear.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

EBC Green Pads, DP2629 I believe will work. Go to braided lines too.

Caution, I have not got these in my car so I am NOT 100% sure they will fit.

Any particular reason why a rear brake upgrade is wanted?

Purely because it's one of the last standard things left on the car. I wouldn't be looking to do it if everything else wasn't so heavily modified... Seems a bit odd to have it still standard. I can't imagine it would make a huge difference but the car is at that stage where only little gains are left to be made.

When I did my front brake upgrade in the FX race car I found I was locking front very easy with standard rear brakes. Upgraded the rears and it settled it all down :)

Sweet. What did you upgrade to? What are you running in the front?

It was in the AE82, went to GTZ twin pots with yellow stuff pads and the rear was horrible so upgaded that to bigger AE101 set up and matching pads. As you already have those rears I don't know a bolt on upgrade, would personally go twin pot rears in your case, will need to faff around to make it work but there must be a kit somewhere.
