4AGE 20V Valve spring installation

Postby matt dunn » Sat Dec 10, 2016 9:57 pm

Hi all.

Does anyone know for sure which tool you can use to install valve springs in the 20V engine with the head on?

looking at something like this,
https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Valve-K ... B000K1NK8I

But want to make sure that it will work.

I am going to replace the valve spring in the race car after the next round in January,
and would like to see if we can do it without taking the head off.
Was going to do it now but the dyno tuner I used is booked out until February so wont do it until then.

Only because to remove the head is not an easy job the way it is all pieced together,
need to take all the exhaust off, the the turbo off the manifold, then the exh manifold etc off,
not hard but take a bit and not really necessary.

I may end up having to take the head off in the end anyway,
but would buy or borrow a tool if I know it will fit the small diameter springs.

Perhaps you could make one. I did for my 20v when I changed the springs. It's in my build thread. Pretty easy to piece together if you have a few spare bits of metal

Found it, looks like a good tool to have.
Do you still have it?

Yep it's sitting in my draw of bits. Suppose I could send it down if you really want to use it.

Going to fit the springs between racing at Invercargill on 21st Jan
and dyno booking for a retune on 9th feb.

If you want to send it down for me to try would be greatly appreciated.
Let me know if your keen.

Matt
