Blade push button start operation

Postby AE82 FXGT » Tue Jan 08, 2019 5:10 pm

I've had an 07 Blade Master G for a bit over a year now and a little something has been a bit annoying since I first got it.

Every other push button to start vehicle I've driven (Literally every Mazda and Ford, with some other more modern Toyotas) have been configured so that if you hold the brake pedal and press the start button it'll fire the engine right up.

Mine doesn't do this, I have to tap the button three times to cycle it through acc, on, then crank.
I've tried holding the button first time but that still just puts it to acc.

Trying to google this problem yields a bunch unrelated things, searching for anything for a Blade is a nightmare because of wiper blades and key blades unfortunately.

Does anyone have any idea on if this can be configured to operate like every other car?
Is something wrong with mine?

That does sound odd, ours fires right up as you describe. Only way i've seen to get to ACC is without foot on the brake. But in that situation, the car will not start no matter how many times the button is pressed. Yet in your case it will start after cycling. So it does sound like a weird situation.

Is your remote working fine? Could try a new battery just to rule that out. That said, the button is probably dead if the remote isn't being detected, so probably not the issue. Check brake pedal sensor / switch is working 100% of the time perhaps.

The battery in the remote must be fine, because my brand new key fib and key does this also.

I thought about the brake pedal switch but that must be working as it does need to be pressed to crank otherwise it cycles from acc, to on, to off.

Does your instrument cluster show any light when the brake pedal is pressed before you hit the button? I know on Mazdas of you get in the car and hold your foot on the brake you get a green key prompting you to press the start button.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the alarm fitted. This thing came with an insane amount of OEM options but also other random shit, which is standard jdm affair. I don't want to open a can of worms when it's been fine for over a year operating like this.

No key lights on dash, only on the button. If someone has messed with the wiring, with alarm etc, then I think you are on the right track with that theory.
